The Dyson Airstrait made waves when it was announced. Without heating plates, the straightener had to be able to tame hair using a powerful flow of air, on hair that was still damp. It would generate nearly 12 liters of air per second.
If GDH also seems to now rely on air to straighten hair with the Duet Style, heating plates remain a must in the beauty sector. Most straighteners adopt said plates and often heat above 230°C, which is far too high for the health of our fleeces. In fact, the hair would suffer thermal damage from 150°C. This is why devices like the Airstrait could help preserve our hair, which is often abused on a daily basis.
Faced with type 1 and 2 hair, that is to say smooth and wavy, the Airstrait replaces the straightener and even the hair dryer. On the other hand, hair types 3 and 4, curly and frizzy, use Airstrait as the first step in longer styling. For the latter, you should expect a smooth result like following a blow-dry, but not stiff locks.
If the Dyson Airstrait has been sold in the United States for several months, we had to wait to get our hands on it in France. But the wait is over. The device will be available online and in stores from February 2, priced at €499.
