2023 marks the year of change for Dyson, which marks a real break in its range of stick vacuum cleaners with its Gen5 Detect. The British manufacturer’s new stick vacuum is now available for €999; an amount that may seem unreasonable for a product as unplayful as a stick vacuum cleaner. Our readers of the first hour know it, on Digital, the price does not fit into the rating and we test each device as if it cost one euro. This is the reason why this new reference has risen to the top of our comparison thanks to its flawless efficiency.
Its suction performance on all surfaces is excellent, regardless of the suction power chosen. The filtration is perfect and the Gen5 Detect traps even the smallest particles in its collector, which is even easier to empty. To avoid spoiling anything, Dyson has provided small subtleties on its latest flagship such as the precise indication of autonomy (to the nearest second) or the new nozzle integrated directly into the suction tube.
Some Alternatives
Obviously, not everyone has the means or the desire to put 1000 € in a stick vacuum cleaner. Many alternatives exist on the market and we have mentioned some of them in our comparison. For those who are familiar with the Dyson ecosystem and want to stay there, the Dyson V15 Detect or V12 Detect Slim are good choices. They recover many options of the Gen5 Detect (multicyclonic filtration, screen with autonomy display, laser installed on the Fluffy brush), and provide excellent suction and filtration performance.
For those who have nothing to do with Dyson and want an effective solution at a lower cost, we can only recommend the Dreame T30 which borrows many technologies from Dyson, including the particle counter, and displays very good general performance. Its many assets and its good results in our lab make it a very serious competitor to the Dyson team.
