The Elder Scrolls 6 officially gives very good news

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the legendary saga that gave its nobility to the open-world RPG genre. Obviously, The Elder Scrolls 6 takes the opportunity to invite itself to the party!

30 years is a good age for a video game franchise, especially with the pedigree of The Elder Scrolls. While it is good to look back and see how far we have come, it is also important to think about the future. It is in this sense that Bethesda has released a message looking back on this cult saga. All this to better conclude on what really interests us: The Elder Scrolls 6!

It’s now been six long years since we first heard about The Elder Scrolls 6. Back in 2018, the highly anticipated game entered pre-production. Five years later, we learned that the project was finally entering development. During this time, Bethesda’s efforts were focused on Starfield. Now that most of the work has been done on the latter, with the exception of patches and other DLC, the studio can finally give due attention to the next The Elder Scrolls game.

On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the license, Bethesda had some happy things to tell us about it. “ Yes, we are working on developing the next chapter: The Elder Scrolls 6. As we speak, we’ve returned to Tamriel and are playing early builds of the game internally. It filled us with the same joy, excitement and promise of adventure.” Everything therefore suggests that the DNA of the license, which has enchanted many fans, particularly in Skyrim, will always be present. It now remains to be seen whether Bethesda intends to offer us an experience that truly meets current expectations, or rather rest on its laurels.

Happy birthday to this cult open-world RPG license!

30 years ago, Arena was released, the first opus of the license. Already, players were impressed by the exhilarating feeling of adventure the game provided in a vast world to explore. The rest, we know it with Daggerfall, and especially from Morrowind. It was with this third opus that The Elder Scrolls really became internationally known. From there, things crescendoed with Oblivion, and finally Skyrim.

The fifth opus remains, even today, a true benchmark for open world RPGs. It owes this to its fascinating open world offering rarely equaled freedom, and above all the unwavering support of modders. The Elder Scrolls 6 therefore has heavy responsibilities on its shoulders. Can he live up to the legend of his illustrious elder, while offering such a fascinating adventure that we will continue to talk about for decades to come? It’s still too early to tell. Especially since the game seems to be still far from being released. See you, hopefully, in less than five years to return to Tamriel, more beautiful than ever! Until then, happy birthday to this cult saga from Bethesda!
