Who from Tesla, MG, Renault, Citroën or Dacia won the registration race in December 2023? The end of the year seemed predictable.
Tesla hit hard in December 2023 in France. The American brand has managed to place its Model 3 and Model Y at the top of the list of best-selling electric cars, with 4,790 and 4,618 registrations respectively.
That’s no small thing, it concludes a year where Tesla dominated the electric car sales rankings.
The ecological bonus effect
Third place is occupied by the MG4 with 4,138 registrations, followed by the Dacia Spring and its 2,810 new registrations.
The end of the ecological bonus created a sort of rush for these vehicles, pushing their sales up before the change in regulations. 3 of the 4 most registered cars in December 2023 are no longer eligible for the ecological bonus. This trend is likely to continue until March 2024.
New players and end-of-year surprises
December wasn’t just Tesla’s month. Several new models have appeared on the market, although their numbers remain modest. For example, the VinFast VF8 has been registered 8 times. The Lotus Eletre, Fisker Ocean, Volkswagen ID.7 and Volvo EX30 also debuted, albeit timidly. What is interesting is to see how these newcomers will position themselves in a market.
