LTensions are electrifying within Nupes. As indicated Le Figaro, the Fête de l’Humanité was supposed to highlight the great gathering of the left that began during the legislative elections. It ultimately brought to light deep disagreements between the various alliance forces. Absent from the event since 2016, Jean-Luc Mélenchon took the opportunity to warn his various allies during his speech in Brétigny-sur-Orge, in Essonne.
“I ask that we stop the whining, […] we have advanced and scored points”, thundered the Insoumis leader in response to the reservations of Fabien Roussel and François Ruffin, who regretted that the coalition had not won back the working classes. The leader of the Communist Party, Fabien Roussel, had moreover drawn the wrath of the Nupes by declaring to the press, in the preamble to the Fête de l’Humanité, that “the left must defend work and not be the left of allowances and social minima”.
This exit did not fail to increase the tension between the forces of the left, as evidenced by the scathing response of the president of the LFI group in the Assembly, Mathilde Panot. The elected official called for “not to use the vocabulary of the far right”, thus directly targeting the deputy from the North, yet seated less than a meter from her, during what was a debate devoted at Nupes.

Bayou and Faure as intermediaries
In the midst of these political dissensions, Olivier Faure and Julien Bayou often acted as intermediaries between Insoumis and communists, note Le Figaro. “I prefer your speeches to your interviews,” the ecologist humorously declared to Fabien Roussel to dissipate tensions. “If someone had told me that we would all be here together. We must fight together, refuse division, to be in five years finally in the second round and for victory, ”insisted the first secretary of the Socialist Party.

Two weeks before the start of parliament, the forces of the left have also raised the threat of social anger, which they believe could explode in the face of the text devoted to unemployment insurance. If the rebels have called on their supporters to mobilize during the march against the high cost of living planned for the beginning of October, Fabien Roussel prefers above all to focus on the day of national and general strike launched by the unions on September 29.
