After an experiment lasting several months, the Ministry of the Interior will gradually deploy its complaint filing service in videoconferencing to the whole country from today.

You will soon no longer necessarily need to go to a police station to file a complaint. A decree published in the Official Journal of February 25, 2024 will extend the possibility of filing a complaint via videoconference to the entire territory, after having tested it in Sarthe and Yvelines for several months.

A video meeting and a few rules

Concretely, this will allow certain victims to choose an appointment and file a complaint with a police station without necessarily having to travel. The authentication of the complainant will be done via the FranceConnect service and the exchange will then be done from a computer, tablet or telephone.equipped with an integrated camera or webcam to carry out video complaints“.

This is indeed a mechanism different from the online pre-complaint, which has now been available for several years. Here, the entire process will be done online, until receipt of the report which the victim can validate or not if she judges that the transcription translates “faithfully his statements and the facts reported“. It is also not about Pharos or “Police Rendez-vous” which only serves to point users to the right police services if necessary.
