We know Resident Evil, but have you ever heard of Sweet Home? This Japanese horror film released in 1989 was one of Mikami’s inspirations for the very first game in the license. It is directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, who notably worked on Pulse, Cure and Creepy. He is a master of his art, and this feature film will make you understand why. As for the story, it follows a film crew who visits an old abandoned mansion that was once inhabited by a famous artist. In fact, the same year, an NES game called Sweet Home arrived, and it was also developed by Capcom. RE was then supposed to be a sort of spiritual successor to the title, but ultimately, it was much more than that.
