This first batch will be marketed in nearly twenty European countries from September 13, 2022, at the same time as its launch in China. It is unclear how the vehicles will be distributed among the different countries; on the other hand, we know that 500 of them are already reserved for France. The call price will be less than €30,000 for the entry-level version, with 51 kWh battery. The MG4s ordered (firm purchase) will be delivered before the end of 2022.

As a reminder, the MG4 is based on a new modular platform MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) dedicated to electric vehicles. According to the manufacturer, this architecture offers advantages in terms of flexibility, space optimization and weight saving. The electric compact will be equipped with two traction chains at launch.

A 125 kW (170 hp) engine will be powered by a 51 kWh battery for 350 km of autonomy (WLTP cycle), while a second version, equipped with a 150 kW (204 hp) engine powered by a 64 kWh battery, will offer 450 km of autonomy. The charging capacity of this version is increased to 135 kW, i.e. 35 minutes to go from 10 to 80% battery capacity.

The MG4 will also be available, from 2023, in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and South America.

According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, MG Motor has been number one in overseas sales for the past three consecutive years. The manufacturer has sold more than a million vehicles abroad. Thus, over the first 6 months of 2022, MG Motor sold 45,000 cars in Europe, allowing the brand to appear in the Top 10, particularly in Norway, Sweden and other countries.

The rise of MG Motor, owned by the SAIC group, is only strengthening, particularly in Europe, its first market, where the objective of selling more than 100,000 vehicles by the end of 2022 should be achieved.
