Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has now been available for a few days. It was released on February 2 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, or even a little earlier for those who opted for the most expensive version (guaranteing early access). It is therefore time for the first assessment for this game-service published by Warner Bros. And the launch figures, oh so complicated, are not good at all.
Warner Bros. has not communicated anything, but the statistics provided by SteamDB constitute a first telling indicator. The PC version of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League does not attract crowds, with a maximum peak of 13,459 people connected at the same time. It was made on Saturday February 3, and has not been exceeded since. On Twitch, we quickly moved on: a peak of more than 150,000 spectators seven days ago, compared to 10,000 in the last 24 hours.
Suicide Squad does worse than Marvel’s Avengers, which ended up disappearing
Unless performance is better on home consoles (we doubt it), Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League runs straight towards catastrophe and oblivion. Which would be a lesser evil for a game that is not really appreciated by the press and the public. On the Metacritic aggregator, it has scores of 63 out of 100 (press) and 3.9 out of 10 (public). Numerama gave it a score of 5 out of 10 due to a lazy structure, despite real qualities in the gameplay.
It is obvious to draw a parallel between Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League And Marvel’s Avengers. They belong to the same genre (service game with an emphasis on cooperation) and both draw on superhero licenses to build their universe. Can we still entertain some hopes for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ? It’s hard to be optimistic. Warner Bros. and Rocksteady still plan to launch the first season of the game in March. Free, it will notably add a new playable character. It will be the Joker, who will come from another universe in which he will have to go to get rid of an incarnation of Brainiac (the big bad). The opportunity to add missions, challenges, arsenal pieces and bosses. Three more seasons are already planned, and each will allow you to spend money on a pass granting cosmetic rewards.
