Insomniac Games has probably just been the victim of one of the biggest leaks in history, since numerous videos and information concerning its future games are now available on the web, including in particular those of Wolverine.
If you thought the release of 90 GTA 6 videos was one of the most important leaks in the video game industry, this one from Insomniac Games should surprise you. Almost a week ago, the studio behind Marvel’s Spider Man 2 was the victim of a ransomware attack which led to the loss of numerous confidential data.
Among them, personal information of employees, but above all data from games not yet announced, including in particular the future Wolverine, planned for 2025. The studio would not have paid the ransom demanded by the pirates, and They therefore began to publish videos of the game as well as other information.
Wolverine gameplay revealed in video
In one of the videos published by the pirates, we can see a summary of different animations for different characters, including fight scenes with Wolverine in costume, jumps, rolls, but also climbing sequences where the protagonist uses its claws to advance on the walls.
Wolverine can also be seen fighting several samurai, so those will likely be part of the main plot. The video also shows the character being towed by a boat at the end of a rope. All of its sequences are dated 2022, and obviously do not represent the final elements of the game.
Another video lets us see an investigation sequence, where Wolverine will rely on his senses. The protagonist will presumably investigate Mystique’s old apartment, which he infiltrates from a window. Wolverine will then use his sense of smell and hearing to reconstruct the scene.
Wolverine casting revealed
Among the information published by the pirates, we also find some artworks, but above all the list of actors who will play the characters in the game:
- Liam McIntyre as Logan
- Noga Wind who will play Leech, a young mutant whom Jean takes care of in the hideout
- Pragathi Guruprasad as Davina, leader of the mutant village of Madripoor
- Kelly Hu as Jessán Hoan (Tyger Tiger), Raven’s wife and owner of the Princess Bar
- Nicole Pacent as Raven Darkholm (Mystique) who takes on the identity of Bolivar Trask in Madripoor
- Debra Wilson as Callisto, the matriarch of the family Jean found in Brooklyn
- Raphael Korkhill as Arkady Rossovich (Omega Red)
- Jonathan Toshiobu Tanigaki as Shiro Yoshida (Sunfire), a mutant freedom fighter in Tokyo
- Brett Gipson as Viktor Creed (Sabretooth), Logan’s adopted brother
- Troy Baker as Nathaniel Essex (Sinister), adoptive father of Logan and Creed
- Krizia Bajos as Jean Grey, our second protagonist
- Jeff Nordling as Walter Lankowski (Sasquatch), a scientist who escapes from Essex
- Jolean Kim as Yuriko Oyama (Deathstrike)
The escape is also the opportunity to learn that the game will take place in Alaska, Avalon, Canada, Japan and Madripoor.
The progress of one of the missions has been revealed
We also learn from the leak the progress of one of the first missions of the game. Logan begins in a cabin after an introductory cutscene. To progress, he must interact with various objects in the cabin, including claws, fire, a mallet, a radio, papers and a cooler. After interacting with all the objects, it is possible to open the door. Outside, Logan meets Walter and they begin a brief walking and talking session.
Next, Logan receives instruction in parkour and other traversal mechanics by navigating a small course on the mountainside. The duo reaches a hunting site where Walter guides Logan in hunting caribou. Logan learns to use his enhanced senses, following golden hoofprints in the snow to track caribou.
The first encounter with the caribou involves the intentional presence of an enemy for design purposes. Logan then follows the caribou and approaches it stealthily, crouching in the bushes and using a knife to give chase. The caribou flees, prompting Logan to continue tracking him.
Logan uses his sound senses to locate the caribou. When he hits the target, a blue aura appears, a sign of success. As the hunt continues, Logan faces a small traversal challenge before reaching a section with trees. There, he learns to sprint through the trees, which leads him to stealthily jump on the caribou to conclude the mission.
Insomniac is not done with the leaks
More than 1.67 terabytes of data allegedly stolen from Sony studioor more than 1.3 million files, so we expect that further information will be released in the coming days.
The pirates would not only be in possession of more content on Wolverine, including its exact release date, but above all files allowing them to launch the game. They should also reveal information concerning other Insomniac projects, including in particular games planned until 2030. For example, we learn that Insomniac is working on a Venom game for fiscal year 2026, a Spider-Man 3 game for fiscal year 2028, a Rachet & Clank game for fiscal year 2029 and an X-Man game for fiscal year 2030.
