The first Worlds of LoL Wild Rift finally announced

Even if in Europe Wild Rift remains light years away from the popularity of its big brother League of Legends PC, it is not the same on the other continents, where the mobile game of Riot Games conquers its audience. The publisher is therefore accelerating in the field of esport, with in 2022 the consecration of an entire ecosystem, obviously inspired by LoL. 8 competitive regions (and therefore 8 major leagues) are set up, with the first real World Cup format in sight: the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship, which will be held this year in Europe.

The 8 esport regions of Wild Rift

  • WNS: North America
  • WOL: Latin America
  • WBR: Brazil
  • WEC: Europe, Middle East and Africa
  • WRL: China
  • WCK: South Korea
  • WJC: Japan
  • WCS: South East Asia

The World Cup

The details of the format of the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship have not all been revealed yet, but we know the highlights of the event. The 8 regional champions will qualify for these Worlds, while 16 teams will have to battle through play-in to access the main event.

Then, the teams will be divided into a Group Stage, before going to play a Knock-out Stage. A format that will obviously remind you of the Worlds of LoL!

As a reminder, the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship will take place this summer in Europe.

esport

After KT Rolster, here is the legendary LCK team, T1, investing in the mobile port of League of Legends. The structure has announced its player roster, even though the mobile esport ecosystem is still maturing in Korea.
