The orange knob can not only be used as a Halloweengrimace Lantern not to be misused, but is also excellent in the kitchen. We love him.

Last week it was them chanterellestoday the pumpkin is Barbara Schöneberger’s favorite vegetable:

We can understand them. On the one hand we love to eat, on the other hand there are good reasons why the pumpkin is a (seasonal) favorite vegetable:

You can make fries out of pumpkin!

Is there anything better than fries? Barbara loves them and you can’t just make them out of potatoes and sweet potatoes make, but also from pumpkin. Does that taste good? And how! Simply cut into strips, toss with oil and spices, then pop in the oven until crispy. Add a delicious dip and the movie night is perfect.

Vanilla ice cream with pumpkin seed oil

While we mostly throw away the pumpkin seeds, industry makes oil out of them. With its greenish color, it not only looks groovy on vanilla ice cream, it also tastes great – you have to try it!

Pumpkin to drink

I beg your pardon? Drinking pumpkin – what’s the crazy thing about? Maybe a Halloween gag where the pumpkin is filled with punch? We might like that. This time, however, it’s about pumpkin spritzer. At the Pumpkin Kiss pumpkin, pear and apple are mixed with mineral water and filled into bottles. Something different than apple, currant or rhubarb and maybe, maybe a bit like Fanta, at least visually. OK, maybe not.

Pumpkin gets any stew going

A whole pumpkin is quite a lot. Pumpkin fries are usually not enough, unless you are really hungry. Leftover pumpkin can be quickly made into a delicious stew with other leftover food. Or fry it in a pan and mix it with a few other ingredients, as Barbara Schöneberger recommends in the video above. Also works as pasta cream, salad strips and of course – the classic – as pumpkin soup.

The freestyle bite sausage

Pumpkin is also available “to go” – as a sausage! Well, at least something like that. The vegan seitan sausage “Spacebar Freestyle Bite” by Wheaty is – astronaut-proof – welded in plastic and therefore lasts a long time as an emergency ration in your handbag. Unlike chocolaty competitors, the Spacebar doesn’t melt in the summer either.

By the way, you can find even more pumpkin snacks in the new one from Thursday BARBARA magazine.
