“The Flash” not only brings back Michael Keaton’s Batman, but also Michael Shannon as General Zod. For Shannon, however, seeing Zod “wasn’t entirely satisfying.”

Actually, it always works like this: Stars make a film and in the subsequent interviews praise every aspect of the production. The storyline is fantastic, the other actors are all excellent, it’s almost like a little family, already missing the whole crew and would be ready for a sequel in a heartbeat.
But years later – sometimes just months if the film was a flop – actors often speak more honestly about their films, the grueling shooting and the weak script. If the film no longer has to be advertised and you can’t block a role in a possible sequel, there’s nothing wrong with chatting out the box.
Michael Shannon, who is currently returning in “The Flash” as General Zod from “Man of Steel”, does not hold back his opinion and criticizes his role even before the latest DC blockbuster hits cinemas. While Shannon praised “Flash” star Ezra Miller in an interview with Collider, this time he had little to do with his own character.
I won’t lie, it wasn’t entirely satisfying for me as an actor. These multiverse movies are like someone playing with action figures. It’s like, “Here’s this person. Here’s this person. And they’re fighting!” – It’s not quite the in-depth character study that I thought “Man of Steel” was. I don’t care if people think that’s crazy or not. I really felt that “Man of Steel” was a pretty polished story. I think The Flash is too, but it’s not the story of Zod. I’m basically just here to offer a challenge.

This refreshing honesty shouldn’t bother Warner Bros., after all, Shannon doesn’t speak badly about “The Flash” itself, but only about his feelings when impersonating General Zod. So for him as an actor, the experience was a little disappointing, but given that Zod also has a smaller role in The Flash than he did in Man of Steel, it’s not surprising that the Kryptonian wasn’t fleshed out as much this time.
For most DC fans, however, the focus of “The Flash” is not the return of Zod, but the reunion with Michael Keaton as Batman. Ben Affleck’s Batman also makes a comeback here, and more wacky cameos prove that films about the multiverse might not be high art, but they can be a lot of fun.
