the Freebox Connect app updates for the arrival of the Ultra

To mark the launch of the new Freebox Ultra, the operator has just deployed a new update for the Freebox Connect and Freebox Files applications. Unsurprisingly, the new features revolve around the arrival of the new box from the Internet troublemaker.

As you probably know, Free has just fined the competition with the launch of its brand new fiber optic box: the Freebox Ultra. With this box, the Internet troublemaker hits hard. For good reason, Ultra aims to revolutionize our uses, notably with support for the Wi-FI 7 standard, quite simply a world first.

In theory, Wi-Fi 7 promises exceptional speeds (up to 46 Gbps), without forgetting lower latency compared to the previous generation. Thus, Free announces on its Ultra box an upload and download speed of 8 Gbit/s! Here again, this is a first. Apart from the technical performances, the offer associated with the Freebox Ultra is likely to appeal to many users.

For good reason, for €49.99 per month (the first year at least), the Ultra plan includes 280 TV channels (including TV by Canal and Free Ligue 1), but also a plethora of streaming services including Prime Video, Universal +, Netflix and Disney +. And the icing on the cake, subscribers will also be able to benefit from Canal+ at no additional cost!

Free updates its apps to prepare for the arrival of the Freebox Ultra

While waiting for the delivery of the first Freebox Ultra to users, the operator has just deployed a new update of two companion applications, namely Freebox Connect and Freebox Files. For beginners, Freebox Connect allows you to remotely control your Wi-Fi and the status of your Freebox equipment. Users can in particular:

  • check the status of their Freebox
  • check devices connected to the network
  • suspend Wi-Fi on kids’ devices
  • Diagnose and act on Wi-Fi settings
  • Share your Wi-Fi code securely

As for Freebox Files, the app allows you to remotely read and share files saved on your Freebox’s storage media. Without surprise, these new versions include new features directly linked to the arrival of the Freebox Ultra.

Thus, version 1.22.0 of Freebox Connect now includes the shutdown, standby and wake-up management features of the Freebox Ultra. On Files (v. 1.14.0), users will also be able to remotely turn off/on the Ultra box and access files saved in its NVMe SSD.
