If the Galaxy S22 FE was ultimately never marketed, we should see a Galaxy S23 FE land before the end of the year.
Samsung blew hot and cold with its Fan Edition smartphones, designed as reissues of devices from the Galaxy S range. This year, the South Korean manufacturer should still modify its formula.
A release at the end of 2023 at a contained price
According to the publication Sisa Diarythe Galaxy S23 FE is well under construction, which was not assured, since the S22 FE is still not released and could have been canceled.
Samsung would have selected its component suppliers. These should begin production of the parts at the end of the third quarter of 2023, which would bring us into September. The launch of the smartphone would be scheduled for the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, in December therefore.
A price was also mentioned by the media: 699 euros, but it is not specified whether this price includes VAT (probably not). As a reminder, the Galaxy S23 is marketed from 959 euros in France, but the price of Samsung smartphones tends to drop several months after their release.
No latest generation SoC
To achieve a reduction in the price of the device, Samsung must necessarily make concessions. And it is at the chip level that the manufacturer has decided to save money. The Galaxy S23 FE would be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, high-end components of 2021, while the Galaxy S23 series packs the newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm.
Samsung should on the other hand keep a screen of good quality, the expertise of the mark in the matter no longer being to prove. Since it produces its own slabs, this part therefore costs it less than if it had to obtain it from another entity. Finally, an AMOLED screen with Full HD + definition and a 120 Hz refresh rate is expected on the Galaxy S23 FE.

The most compact Galaxy S23 is undoubtedly a success. We appreciate the quality of the screen, the overall performance and its energy sobriety in normal use. Samsung also had the good idea to better integrate the rear camera modules into the rear. The photo/video part evolves by very small touches. We would have liked Samsung to be a little more daring and upgrade the hardware characteristics.
We still regret the lack of supply of a charger with the S23 and especially the slowness of the “fast” charge, especially compared to what the competition offers.
And the price, in all this? It is high, far too high: 959 euros for the 8/128 GB model (equipped with UFS 3.1 storage, less efficient than the UFS 4.0 fitted to the rest of the range) and 1019 for the 8/256 GB version. How long ago the time when the Galaxy S was not worth more than 500 euros…
