The Pro model of the Galaxy Watch 5 would have a sapphire crystal and a titanium case. Materials that are both more resistant for a lighter watch.
Samsung seems determined to beef up its game in terms of connected watches by offering a real high-end model in 2022 which would be called the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. This could even replace the Watch Classic, which would greatly simplify the range.
According to the leaker ice universe, undoubtedly among the most reliable, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro would not be content to offer greater autonomy than its little sister. It would also incorporate premium materials to say the least.
Improved glass and case
Let’s start with the watch face. This would be protected by sapphire crystal. This material is widely used for high-end classic watches and guarantees 10 times greater resistance than classic glass. Enough to protect yourself durably against scratches.
The case would also take on its finest finery on the Pro model, since it would offer titanium. The advantage is twofold: a case that is both lighter and more resistant.
What consequences for the price
Will we be able to choose between an aluminum or titanium Pro model? This is the question that this leak opens. Indeed, the Apple Watch Series 7, for example, offers three versions, but at a higher price for the stainless steel version, and even more expensive for the titanium one. As a reminder, the Galaxy Watch 3 offered a titanium version.
The other option that Samsung could choose would be to consider that the Pro model is aimed at an audience with the means to buy such a luxurious box and the Seoul firm would therefore not offer a variant.
From our point of view, this could be harmful for all those who are looking for a watch under Wear OS 3 with a correct autonomy, since this is also the contribution that this model promises us. You may want a watch that lasts two or three days on, without tasting the salty bill of an ultra-resistant case.
That said, Samsung would also have planned to slightly increase the size of the Galaxy Watch 5, so there is hope for a watch that is both smart and durable.
Connected watches are increasingly powerful, but their limited autonomy prevents them from taking advantage of certain functions. Fortunately, alternatives exist and they are sufficient for most users.
