the Galaxy Watch 6 is full of applications six days before its officialization

We’re less than seven days away from the Unpacked event where Samsung will show us several new product lines. While the stars of the presentation will undoubtedly be the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, the Korean giant’s new foldable smartphones, the company’s connected watches should also offer their share of new features.

It is in particular on the application front that Samsung wants to challenge the hegemony of the Apple Watch on the sector of connected watches. Samsung has announced in a press release that the Galaxy Watch 6 will benefit from new applications that should make them much more attractive to potential customers.

The connected watches in the range will thus accommodate Samsung Wallet, Thermo Check, and especially WhatsApp, which users will therefore be able to consult directly on their wrist. The icing on the cake, the instant messaging application is already available on slightly less recent Korean smartwatches such as the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch4.

The Galaxy Watches are the first connected watches to welcome WhatsApp

The implementation of WhatsApp in the Galaxy Watch6 part of the desire “to expand the Wear OS ecosystem”. The very popular application of Meta was until now not available on the connected watches, its appearance on the Galaxy Watch therefore constitutes a great first. According to the company, “the app will allow users to carry on conversations, respond to messages by voice and even answer callsall without having to take out their phone”.

In the same vein, Samsung Wallet, the ultimate application for contactless payment and storing your cryptocurrencies, is appearing on the company’s smartwatches. It will allow, like Apple Pay users on Apple Watch, to make payments from their wrist using the credit and loyalty cards stored on their device. The infrared technology used by Thermo Check will allow them to measure the temperature “of their environmentwhether it is the meals they are about to eat or the water in which they are about to swim, without any physical contact being necessary”.
