The offending challenge, named TOTY 86+ Leagues, went live on January 30 and remained accessible for 24 minutes before being removed by EA, which realized the error. This allowed many players to receive Messi’s card, rated 97. The design of the challenge aimed to offer an unexchangeable TOTY card of 86+ from a player from one of the 13 leagues having received at least one TOTY card. However, due to a design flaw, everything unfortunately did not go as planned. In the process, EA immediately communicated on its networks to explain that it had stopped the challenge.
