A Graphic card
entry level which is clearly not intended for video games.
Formalized last December, the GeForce MX550 and MX570 are graphics cards first designed to accompany laptops. On paper, they should be associated with mid-range CPUs and offer them decent graphics performance.
A CPU + GPU combo less expensive than APUs
The first tests obtained by our colleagues from Videocardz compare the performance of a GeForce MX550 to that of a Ryzen 9 5900HS, an APU equipped with a Vega 8 graphics solution.
The measurement software used is none other than PassMark and on the first tool – the G3D Mark test – the NVIDIA signed card obtains 5,014 points while the AMD CPU is at 4,968 points. The difference observed is barely 0.9% and the question therefore arises of the quality/price ratio of the two solutions.
On the one hand, we have an APU, certainly powerful, but expensive and, on the other, a GeForce MX550 sold for a pittance to be associated with mid-range CPUs. The first solution should lead to perhaps thinner and more modern laptops, but also significantly more expensive.
