The choice of Ricarda Lang, member of the Bundestag, the youngest leader of the “Grenen” to date, reflects the popularity of the green party with young readers revealed by the result of the legislative elections last September. According to the exit polls, the Greens won 23% of the votes of first-time voters aged 18 to 22.
Arrived third in the federal election with 14.8% of the vote behind the social democrats of the SPD (25.7%) and the conservatives CDU-CSU (24.1%), the ecologists joined the cabinet of Olaf Scholz within of a three-way alliance, with the SPD and the liberal democrats of the FDP.
