The Girondins de Bordeaux sanctioned with administrative relegation to the third division

Already sportingly relegated to Ligue 2, the Girondins were administratively demoted to National 1, the third French division, by the DNCG on Tuesday, June 14.

The Bordeaux club, sportingly relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the 2021-2022 season, was sanctioned with an administrative demotion to the lower level in National 1, the equivalent of the third division, a decision likely to call, the Professional Football League announced on Tuesday. The LFP made this decision public after financial examination of the Girondin club, owned by businessman GĂ©rard Lopez, by the National Directorate of Control and Management (DNCG). The club has seven days to appeal from the day after the day it was notified of the decision.
