Google reportedly rolled out update ‘by accident’ Android 13 aimed at some smartphones.

This is particularly the case with the Google Pixel 4.

Android 13 a few weeks early

At the end of the year, Google will deploy its brand new Android 13 update, which is currently available in beta. The opportunity for the American giant to eradicate bugs and other malfunctions present in its mobile operating system.

However, if Android 13 is not expected in final and stable version before August or September, a holder of Google Pixel 4 was able to migrate to the latest version of Google’s OS a few days ago, without being registered for a any Android 13 Beta for Pixel type program.

Android 13

An error on the part of Google?

A holder (at least) of the Google Pixel 4 was indeed able to migrate to Android 13, by accepting a simple notification from his smartphone. The latter thought to make a minor update, but finally saw his smartphone be powered by an OS that will only be publicly available in a few weeks.

An update which notably resulted in the deactivation of the Google Pay contactless payment system. We obviously imagine that despite the “official” side of the update, the version of Android 13 deployed by Google is not final, and that it could in fact be a specific variant of the beta, intended only for employees of the American firm. A non-final, and private, version of Android 13, which would have been made available by mistake to at least one user.

Recall that the new Android 13 was formalized last May by Google. A major new release codenamed “Tiramisu,” which will soon be rolling out to Google’s Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 6 Pro of course , but also on various smartphones of competing brands, powered by Android.
