The Pixel 6 is Google’s best-selling Pixel in the last quarter. A box that the brand had anticipated and which should make its latest flagship the best-selling phone in its history.
Despite the numerous bugs reported in the months following their release, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro had rather good press, including at home, at Frandroid. It also seems to have won over the public, according to a recent statement by Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, on the occasion of the publication of the company’s results for the last quarter of 2021.
No figure, but a record
The CEO of the Mountain View firm unfortunately does not reveal any figures, but he mentions (via Android Police) all the same excellent sales:
In the fourth quarter, we set an all-time quarterly sales record for Pixel. And this, despite an extremely difficult supply chain environment. The fPixel 6 response from our customers and carrier partners has been overwhelmingly positive. And AI makes the Pixel even more useful…
The CEO attributes the Pixel 6’s success in part to its real-time translation capabilities.
All of the high-end Pixel models launched around October or November, which would mean the Pixel 6 would be Google’s best flagship launch. If it continues on this path, the Pixel 6 series should have no trouble becoming the manufacturer’s best-selling, since sales of previous Pixels have always been disappointing. Google’s old range, the Nexus was never a best seller either.
A significant success that Google had anticipated. The firm aimed to sell twice as many Pixel 6s as all of its smartphone sales in 2020. This did not prevent it from experiencing various stock shortages in the first days of its launch.
Google stays away from Samsung and Apple
Even if the exact sales figures for previous Pixels are not really known, it is estimated that Google sold around 7.2 million Pixels across all ranges in 2019, for example. Even if the Pixel does indeed seem to be taking the path of the biggest success for the Mountain View firm, we are still far from the volumes of the behemoths that are Samsung (266 million smartphones in 2020) and Apple (206 million).
All the other lights are green at Google, which saw its quarterly revenue increase from $52.8 billion to $69 billion. At the same time, its profit jumped from 19 to 26 billion.
