According to the final data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) at 8:45 a.m., the harmonized consumer price index (HICP) in France stands at 120.8 points in July 2023 (base 100 in 2015). Thus, the harmonized level of inflation is stable over one month and at +5.1% over one year.
In June, the harmonized consumer price index stood at 120.7 points, representing inflation of +0.2% over one month and +5.3% over one year.
What you need to know about this indicator: like the consumer price index (CPI), the harmonized consumer price index makes it possible to measure inflation, i.e. the average variation between 2 dates in the prices of products consumed by households . Set up by the European Union, the HICP makes it possible to compare inflation between each country and to calculate the level of inflation at European level. The HICP is the subject of 2 monthly publications, a provisional one (at the end of the month) and a definitive one (around the 13th of the following month).
