Lorenz Bahlsen joined the company in 1974. He worked in the company’s management for 45 years his grandfather Hermann Bahlsen. After his father’s death, he rose to the board of the Bahlsen Group together with his younger brother Werner-Michael.

In 1999, however, there was a break between the two brothers. The Bahlsen empire was divided into a sweet and a salty division. Werner Michael became the cookie king with the Leibniz and Pick-up brands, among others. Lorenz became the snack king. Since then, he has been running the family company’s salty business under the new company name “Lorenz Snack-World” from the company headquarters in Neu-Isenburg. The classics in the snack group include Crunchips and the Pretzel sticks Saltletts (formerly: Salzletten), which are sold successfully throughout Europe.

Son Moritz Bahlsen now runs the company

The company now employs around 3,000 people and is represented in several countries. Four years ago, Lorenz Bahlsen initiated the handover of company management. Since then, his son Moritz Bahlsen has been running the family business in the fourth generation.

The company praised Lorenz Bahlsen’s “inexhaustible entrepreneurial spirit” and his future-oriented corporate management. In doing so, he “consolidated the national and international success” of the family business. Lorenz Bahlsen is “an outstanding personality, a cosmopolitan person and a straightforward character who always treated everyone at eye level. “He will be sorely missed as a ‘company father’, mentor, companion and friend.”

Lorenz Bahlsen leaves behind his wife, five adult children and four grandchildren.
