The only survivor of an air crash in Michigan this weekend, an 11-year-old girl owes her life to her father’s gesture just before the disaster.
A miracle. This Saturday, November 13, a plane crashed fifteen minutes after takeoff near Beaver Island, Michigan (United States). On board, five passengers: the pilot, a couple as well as a father and his 11-year-old daughter. According to information from ABC News, little Laney Perdue is the only survivor of the crash. And if she is still alive today, it is thanks to the gesture of her dad.
Her mother, Christina Perdue, said in a relayed press release by ABC News that just before the crash, Laney’s father hugged her to protect her. “We are heartbroken at the loss of my husband, father, brother, son and friend (…). I believe he grabbed our daughter and protected her.” Information confirmed by a close relative who indicated to the site UpNorthLive: “The only thing Laney remembers is that her father was hugging her tight and the first caregivers on the scene confirmed that he had saved her life.”
The causes of the crash still unknown
If the father succumbed to his injuries in the helicopter that transported him to the nearest hospital, the girl is off the hook. Despite his fractures and two surgeries, his life is no longer in danger. For now, the causes of the crash are unknown. An investigation was opened by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transport Safety Council.
