The new iteration of the folding smartphone designed by Honor is preparing to arrive in France. Its advantages ? Unprecedented finesse for a device of this type and an extremely generous pre-order offer.
It seems that fashion and trends are cyclical. Take the flip phone for example. Omnipresent at the beginning of the 2000s, it gradually disappeared to become only a distant memory during the 2010s. And now, around ten years later, it found its hour of glory, after having received some developments. In recent years, folding smartphones have multiplied among manufacturers, like Honor with its Magic V.
Released at the beginning of last year, and rather convincing if we are to believe the test carried out by Frandroid, the Magic Vs is preparing to bow out in favor of its successor, the Magic V2. A more advanced model, full of innovations, with a solid technical sheet, and whose design alone represents a small technical feat.

Honor Magic V2: a little finesse in a brutal world
To say that Honor has accomplished a small feat with its Magic V2 is an understatement. For this new iteration of its folding smartphone, the manufacturer made a bet: to offer the thinnest folding smartphone ever created. And the least we can say is that once you have the Magic V2 in hand, the result is up to par. Folded, the smartphone is not even a centimeter thick and unfolded, it does not exceed 4.7 mm.
A regular refinement that is also found in the mass of the phone. With 231 grams on the scale, the Magic V2 is very light for a smartphone of its size. To achieve this result without lowering the quality and performance of its smartphone, Honor had to be ingenious. Reducing the size of the battery, using new materials, modifying the existing chassis: nothing has been left to chance.
One of the biggest new features is at the hinge level. Honor chose titanium for two reasons. On the one hand, lighten the mechanism. On the other hand, ensure the robustness of the latter. Once again a successful bet since the manufacturer ensures that its new generation hinge can withstand up to 400,000 folds. Enough to survive a decade of intensive daily use if we are to believe the calculations carried out by Frandroid.
OLED and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 screens: an uncompromising technical sheet
Even if it means having several screens on your smartphone, as long as they are good. In any case, that’s what Honor seems to have said to itself when designing the Magic V2. Its smartphone indeed sports two OLED screens with impressive characteristics. For the external screen, the manufacturer has opted for an excellent 120 Hz panel with a maximum brightness of 2,500 cd/m², to offer an impeccable display, whatever the light conditions.
For the piece de resistance, namely the internal screen (the one that folds), Honor has chosen an LTPO screen with an adaptive refresh rate, in order to reduce energy consumption where possible. Another particularity, this XXL screen is capable of displaying 1.07 billion colors for a rendering as close to reality as possible.
To power these two screens and allow the Magic V2 to offer its users high-end performance in all circumstances, Honor has relied on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. A processor which has largely proven itself, especially when accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and an Adreno 740 GPU.
Where Honor has done very well is in terms of battery. The manufacturer has in fact integrated two cells into its smartphone that are particularly impressive in terms of their finesse, in a format similar to that of a simple credit card. Enough to reach 5,000 mAh in total, and give the whole thing an autonomy of around a day.
A photo score to match your memories
If the Magic V2 was not designed by Honor as a photophone, that does not prevent it from having installed a perfectly correct photo block on its smartphone. The latter consists of three cameras:
- a 50 megapixel wide-angle;
- a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle;
- a 20 megapixel telephoto lens.
The whole thing benefits from OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) mechanical stabilization technology in order to obtain sharp, information-rich shots, even when the light conditions are not optimal. Numerous software tools are also present to complete the photo block, such as Motion Capture AI which allows you to keep the subject in the center of the frame in all circumstances, and thus take perfect shots.
Nearly 1000 euros bonus for any Honor Magic V2 pre-order
If the Magic V2 is not yet available, its release being set for February 15, Honor has still launched pre-orders for its new phone. And the least we can say is that the manufacturer pulled out all the stops with extremely generous bonuses.
