For more than two weeks, Sébastien Cauet, famous 51-year-old host, has found himself at the heart of a dark controversy. He is currently the subject of three complaints for rape and sexual assault. Two of these complaints come from Julie, filed in Bourg-en-Bresse, once as a minor and once as an adult. The origin of the third complaint remains unknown. Cauet refutes these accusations, as stated by his lawyers, Messrs Xavier Autain and Simon Clemenceau. A press release published on December 4 specifies that Cauet was heard by the BRDP, as a complainant in an investigation opened for cyberharassment and other offenses.
In the press release, Cauet’s lawyers emphasize the importance of distinguishing judicial time from media time, calling for respect for the presumption of innocence. They highlight Cauet’s desire to fight what he considers to be false accusations, while trusting the justice system to elucidate the serious facts of which he claims to be a victim. Following these events, Cauet withdrew from NRJ, where he hosted a daily show. By mutual agreement with the station, its program was temporarily suspended, pending clarification of the situation.
