Huawei has officially presented a new clamshell smartphone model: the Huawei Pocket S. The latter is an affordable version of the Huawei P50 Pocket. It is designed to appeal to as many people as possible, despite a less well-stocked technical sheet.
In addition to the Watch GT Cyber, a connected watch with a removable dial, Huawei has formalized the Pocket S, which presents itself as a more affordable folding smartphone than its elder. It is distinguished by its greater choice of colors. The Pocket S comes in six shades : Mint Green, Frost Silver, Obsidian Black, Primrose Gold, Sakura Powder and Ice Cristal Blue.
In terms of display, the Huawei Pocket S does almost everything like the Huawei P50 Pocket. Same 6.9-inch diagonal OLED panel displaying 1.07 billion colors for a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels. 120Hz refresh rate, with 300Hz touch sampling rate. Same circular screen on the back of the device with panel 1.04 inch OLED.

The back of the device features the camera module of the P50 Pocket amputated from the wide-angle sensor of 32 MP “Ultra-spectrum”. For the rest, there is a 40 MP “True-Chroma” wide-angle sensor (f / 1.8) and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor (f / 2.2 – 120 °). The selfie camera on the front of the device is also a 10.7 MP sensor opening at f/2.2. The battery has a capacity of 4000mAh and the smartphone is sold with a 40W charger.

The volume control buttons and the smartphone power button, which still acts as a fingerprint sensor, are located on the right edge of the Huawei Pocket S. The manufacturer claims to have further improved the strength and durability of its device. It has been tested to fold and unfold 400,000 times. The Huawei Pocket S is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G and runs on HarmonyOS 3. It is currently only sold in China at prices between €840 for the version with 128 GB of storage at 1050 € for the 512 GB version. No date has yet been announced for its overseas availability.
