Sentenced by a New York court to pay $354 million in fines for massively falsifying the value of his properties in order to obtain favorable loans from banks and preferential rates from insurance companies, Donald Trump is in the eye of the legal storm for a while.
By adding up the amount of damages he has received so far during the various trials, the former tenant of the White House must even pay 500 million dollars. And he is engaged in a race against time: he only has 25 days to find the sum, otherwise his property and assets will be seized up to this sum, which should logically be devastating for his empire.
Complicated legal news for him therefore, which does not prevent him from crisscrossing the country calling for his troops to once again take him to the White House next November. Among his favorite targets are those he calls the “Hollywood elites”, including George Clooney.
“The idea that this guy is a man of the people is laughable”
In the past, Clooney had not failed to tackle Trump, as early as 2017. “Being a celebrity is not enough to be a good president” he had said. The actor recently responded to Trump’s new attacks, in a poignant and well-felt post, the contents of which are as follows.
“Here’s the thing: I grew up in Kentucky. I sold insurance door to door. I sold women’s shoes. I worked at an all-night liquor store. I bought suits too big and too long, the bottom of which I cut off and took off to make ties, so I would have a tie to go to job interviews. I grew up understanding what it was like to not have confidence illness for eight years.
So this idea that I’m somehow “Hollywood elite” and this guy who shits in a gold toilet is somehow the man of the people is laughable.
People in Hollywood are mostly people from the Midwest who moved to Hollywood for a career. So this idea of “coastal elites” living in a bubble is ridiculous. Who lives in a bigger bubble?
He lives in a golden tower and has twelve people in his company. He doesn’t run a company of hundreds of thousands of people that he employs and cares for. He ran a company of twelve people!
When you’re making a film, you have seven different unions that all want different things, and you have to find consensus with all of them and you have to move them in the same direction.
He never had to do this sort of thing. I just watched it and laughed when I saw him say “Hollywood elite.” The Hollywood elite? I don’t have a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Donald Trump has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! Kiss my ass!”
