The Sony bar is a 2.1 soundbar with a total output of 200 watts (including a 100 watt subwoofer), an HDMI input and an HDMI output. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth (with aptX support) and an optical audio input. You have to do without LAN or WLAN with this soundbar.
Our assessment:
The equipment is rather simple, but you get a remarkable sound for the asking price (grade 2.2). In the CHIP leaderboard, you only get a soundbar with slightly better sound quality from around 100 euros more. So if you are looking for good sound on a small budget, the Sony HT-X8500 is just the right soundbar for you.
