The Idol: “a huge turning point” to be expected at the end of the series with Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd

Da’Vine actress Joy Randolph of The Idol promises a stunning ending to Sam Levinson and The Weeknd’s series starring Lily-Rose Depp.

Under the fire of controversy and negative reviews, The Idol is nearing its end. The series created and designed by Sam Levinson, Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) and Reza Fahim tells us about the descent into hell of Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), a pop star who does everything to return to the front of the stage after a depression.

While her comeback is being organized, Jocelyn falls into the net of Tedros (The Weeknd), a nightclub owner with a troubled past, who rekindles the flame within her. Will this romance take her to the top of her game, or will she rock her to the depths of her soul?

The ending of The Idol should surprise you

If The Idol is for the moment strongly criticized – in particular for the acting of The Weeknd or its shock scenes – it could perhaps seduce a new audience with its last episodes. In any case, this is what promises us Da’Vine Joy Randolph, one of the actresses of the series.

The one who plays Destiny, Jocelyn’s co-manager, teased a surprising end that could reshuffle all the cards during an interview for TheWrap.

“What you’ve seen so far is about to take a huge turn”, she said. She even specifies that the point of view on nudity and obscenity will thwart our expectations and “reveal something different”.

The actress thinks Sam Levinson shouldn’t be underestimated, “the man behind Euphoria” and that we should not expect an outcome “superficial and obvious”. The fourth episode of The Idol is now available on Prime Video with the Warner Pass in France and there are only two episodes left to conclude the series.

And Da’Vine Joy Randolph explains that Jocelyn’s managers – namely her Destiny character and that of Hank Azaria (Chaim) – keep a close eye on their pop star and monitor the influence Tedros has on her.

For the actress, Destiny is a crucial figure in Jocelyn’s well-being: “[Destiny] is someone who loves and cares deeply for [Jocelyn]…I wouldn’t say she feels sorry for her, but she’s very empathetic towards her. It’s very difficult – the situation she’s in – so she wants to see her succeed.”

And especially Da’Vine Joy Randolph explains that one should not underestimate Jocelyn’s entourage, and even less Destiny who makes Jocelyn believe that she leaves him his freedom with Tedros while watching over her and in protecting her:

“It’s really this fine negotiation that she masters to manage all her activities and let everyone do their thing, making sure everything falls into place. She will never let anything go crazy, while giving people feel like they’re making their own decisions for themselves.”

So what will be the outcome for Jocelyn? Will she really hit rock bottom and get lost with Tedros or will she escape a tragic fate thanks to her loved ones? Answer in the latest episodes.

The fifth will be available on July 2 on HBO in the United States and the following day on Prime Video in France while the sixth will be available on July 9 on HBO in the United States and the following day on Prime Video in France.

The Idol series is streaming on Prime Video via the Warner Pass.
