Love at first sight in Lannion. No, it’s not the title of a new romantic comedy to come on TF1 whose plot would take place in Brittany. This is the story of Hugo, a German tourist from Frankfurt, who is fell in love with a stranger in the middle of the street. According to Actu.fr, which tells the story of this fairy tale, it all started in October 2021, when this man came out of a café located on rue des Augustins. He meets a woman, named B., Both turn around. Hugo recounts their first exchange to our colleagues: “We stared at each other for long seconds. My instinct was to take his hands in mine. Adrenaline overwhelmed me. I didn’t manage to say much except to stammer: ‘Your face is very nice!’ That’s not exactly what I wanted to tell him, my French is very average.”
The unknown remains silent and everyone goes their own way. But the Frankfurter is certain, something incredible has just happened. A few months later, in January 2022, Hugo has not forgotten B. He wants to find her at all costs. So he contacts a local newspaper, The Tregor, to initiate a call. An approach that seems to work since his stranger ends up reading the article. A series of misunderstandings will however make her doubt: an error in the address of the meeting, an e-mail to the editorial staff of the Tregor arrived in the unwanted and remained unanswered… Is it really her that Hugo is looking for?
B. looks for Hugo in turn
But B. recognized the German tourist in the photo and can’t help thinking about it. So she goes looking for him in the streets of Locquirec, where he lived. She can’t find it, but fate has it right: the newspaper opened her e-mail eight days later. Hugo and B. can finally talk. “We wrote to each other a lot, we wondered where we could meet”, he recalls, on the Actu.fr site. So it was only four months after they fell in love that they met for a first meeting in Locquirec. “We had so much to say to each other, as if we had known each other for a long time. (…) Our emotions were similar to our very first meeting, I was shivering. We were both quite stressed”, he recalls. Since their first date, Hugo and B. see each other regularly.
