The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra seems to have given Apple some ideas for its 2025 iPhone. Indeed, Apple could take inspiration from its main competitor by equipping its future smartphones with much better screens.
Next fall, the Cupertino company will market the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Although there are still many months between us and their official release, various rumors about them have already started to invade the Web. While the latter should logically materialize some notable changes in terms of design, Apple could still reserve certain modifications for its successor, the iPhone 17, which is scheduled for release next year.
iPhone 17 screen could separate from Ceramic Shield
On the Chinese platform Weibo, the leaker Instant Digital recently shared interesting information concerning the future screen of the iPhone 17. According to him, the brand with the bitten apple is currently working on a way to improve the scratch resistance of its screens and considerably reduce reflections, particularly when the device is exposed to a strong light source.
To do this, Apple could consider abandoning the Ceramic Shield glass, which notably equips the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, in favor of Gorilla Glass Armor, which we have already seen on Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Offering remarkable anti-scratch and anti-reflective treatment, Gorilla Glass Armor demonstrated foolproof effectiveness during tests carried out on the S24 Ultra. Obviously attracted, the company led by Tim Cook would in turn like to equip its smartphones coming in 2025 with it, although nothing categorically indicates that it will be the same coating present on the latest high-end from Samsung.
A more efficient screen against scratches and reflections, but…
Although Instant Digital claims that the iPhone 17 will be equipped with a new screen that is less reflective and capable of resisting micro-scratches, it has not specified whether Apple will adopt Gorilla Glass Armor, or whether it will develop the is placing similar screen technology in collaboration with Corning, as was the case with the Ceramic Shield a few years ago.
For its part, we can easily imagine that the South Korean manufacturer will duplicate the screen of its Galaxy S24 Ultra across its entire range of Galaxy S smartphones starting next year. Incidentally, let’s remember that Gorilla Glass Armor should also be fitted to future Samsung folding phones.
In any case, the adoption of this new screen technology by Apple would allow future iPhone 17 owners to completely dispense with a protective film. However, the site Apple Insider reports that the oleophobic layer would be less effective than the Ceramic Shield, making fingerprints potentially more apparent.

- Lighter, more stylish
- Hyper bright screen
- Good autonomy
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is undoubtedly the most interesting model of the 2023 vintage. Despite its gigantism, it is much lighter than its predecessor, and stands out as the very first to benefit from a periscopic telephoto lens providing zoom 5x. Never before seen on iPhone.
If this thing will hardly impress those who use high-end Android smartphones, in our opinion Apple is largely catching up thanks to excellent quality optics, which remain very capable in low light.
Backed by the A17 Pro chip which shows the muscles in play as well as in more basic processing tasks, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also the one which offers the best autonomy of the Pro models. Yes, despite everything, its striking power still keeps it a notch below the iPhone 15 Plus in terms of endurance.
Let’s add to the balance sheet the welcome contributions of the new action button, which offers a whole new way to quickly access essential functions of the iPhone.
In a nutshell: the best iPhone ever designed by Apple.
