Apple’s affordable iPhone could make a comeback as early as next year. In comparison with theiPhone SE 3this new model should present itself as a small revolution, with many modifications expected.
It’s been almost two years since the latest iPhone SE model invaded our shelves. If it generally met the needs of users, we must admit that the iPhone SE 2022 somewhat lacked boldness, particularly at a time when entry-level and mid-range Android smartphones are increasingly intended to be more aggressive. Well aware of this, the Cupertino company is preparing to revolutionize its device intended for smaller budgets by giving it the main aesthetic attributes of its iPhone 14.
New design, significantly larger screen, integration of Face ID and removal of the “Home” button… Let’s discover the changes potentially concocted by Apple regarding the next generation iPhone SE!
The iPhone SE is about to make its revolution
The first rumors around the fourth generation iPhone SE are not new. If various rumors in the corridor mentioned, two years ago, the potential cancellation of the iPhone SE 4, it would indeed still be destined to see the light of day. The first CAD renderings freshly revealed by the site 91 mobiles allow us to confirm what we already knew, namely that Apple plans to make it benefit from numerous improvements.
As you probably know, previous iPhone SEs were based on older iPhone models. But with the iPhone SE 4, the Californian brand should draw strong inspiration from the design adopted by the iPhone 14 since it should use its main elements. This new iPhone SE should therefore benefit from flat edges and a notch similar to that of its high-end counterpart.
By introducing the notch on the iPhone SE, Apple will bring its entry-level smartphone into a new era, in particular thanks to the (late) arrival of Face ID. At the same time, the company led by Tim Cook will definitively draw a line under Touch ID, the iPhone SE being the last mobile devices from the manufacturer to still have this technology.
Equipped with a 6.1-inch screen, the iPhone SE 4 will therefore represent a significant advance in comparison with its predecessor, which was equipped with a 4.7-inch panel and very closely modeled on the iPhone 8.
The iPhone SE 4 would even include some new features from the iPhone 15… and the iPhone 15 Pro!
At the back, the first renderings of the iPhone SE 4 suggest that the device will only have a single module for the camera. It will nevertheless be equipped with a USB-C port, thus leaving aside its old Lightning port, and could, according to some rumors, borrow its famous Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro.
When the iPhone SE 3 was released two years earlier, Apple decided to increase the price. For now, we don’t know if the same will happen with the fourth generation iPhone SE, although the numerous modifications may incur some additional costs.
According to 91 mobiles, the iPhone SE 4 could be made official by Apple next spring, at the same time as the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, the marketing of the new entry-level device would not be planned for this year, but rather for 2025.

That being said, it’s difficult to have a hard time against the iPhone SE. Yes, its screen is LCD, HD+ and 60 Hz. But damn it is well calibrated! And the Apple A15 Bionic that equips it simply does wonders in terms of performance. It’s simple: to find an Android phone this fast, you have to pay more than 800 euros.
Certainly, the iPhone SE may seem anachronistic in many ways. Whether it’s its design, its screen or its unique camera, everything takes us back years. But as a gateway to the world of iOS, this new model manages to offer a complete and satisfying experience. We could have done without the price increase attributable to 5G, but we are going to be magnanimous this time. Hoping that the next model shuffles the cards a little more.
