Wednesday, June 1, Johnny Depp spoke in a press release on Instagram. He reacted to the announcement of the verdict of the defamation trial between him and Amber Heard.
Amber Heard has been found guilty of defamation after the trial against Johnny Depp. The verdict was delivered on Wednesday June 1 after a six-week trial. After much deliberation, the jurors settled on a sentence of up to 15 million dollars for damages.
Following this decision, Johnny Depp, who was not present at the Fairfax court, spoke in a statement posted on Instagram. He stated : “Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the life of my relatives, and also the life of the people who, for many years, supported me and believed in me, changed forever.“before continuing:”False, very serious and criminal allegations have been made against me via the mediawhich triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me“.

Following the announcement of the verdict of his trial, Johnny Depp expressed his gratitude. “Six years later, the jury gave me back my life” he began before continuing by explaining that he knew he would face many obstacles in making the decision to file a complaint against his ex-wife. Today, the actor of Pirates of the Caribbean is grateful for all the support received throughout this long battle.
At the end of his press release, where he notably thanked the work of the jurors, the judge and his legal team, he explained that he now felt at peace and ready to move on. “The best is yet to come and a new chapter finally begins” he declared before concluding with a quotation in Latin which translates to “The truth never fails“. A beautiful message of hope for the 58-year-old actor who had seen his career collapse following the words of Amber Heard.
