This Sunday, October 9, Charles III went to Balmoral. But, he couldn’t help but hold back tears, which didn’t escape the notice of the most observant people.

When Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022, Prince Charles became Charles III at age 73 and it could be thatbe crowned on June 3, 2023, 70 years after his mother. Since the 10-day national mourning ended, he has had to go to several events, just like his son, Prince William and his wife who have already made several outings in public. Kate Middleton had also opted for a red coat, after wearing black for almost two weeks to mark the end of national mourning.

This Sunday, October 9, Charles III thus made another official outing from the funeral of his mother, alongside Camilla who is now queen consort. The royal couple attended Sunday mass at Crathie Church and Charles III was seen to have been particularly moved, to the point of having watery eyes when he greeted the crowd. Indeed, the king who was in the back of his Rolls Royce was touched when he saw the faithful coming to greet him.

Charles III does not hide his emotions

It is not the first time that Charles III has not hidden his emotions in front of the British. Indeed, he was seen on the verge of tears lowering his head slightly when God Save the King was sung by the British Parliament in the Palace of Westminster on September 12. Two days before, on September 10, we could see him wiping a tear rolling down her cheek when he arrived with Camilla at Buckingham Palace for the first time, having the title of king and no longer of prince.

In addition to tears, Charles III sometimes failed to keep calm. During his visit to Northern Ireland, he got annoyed because of a pen when he had to sign a document. The sequence was filmed and quickly made the rounds on social networks. We see him throwing at Camilla, “I hate that”, then : “I’ve had enough of those pesky pens. They do this every time”. A very different temperament from Queen Elizabeth II who only very rarely showed her emotions.
