His first diplomatic trip as king should have arrived last March, but it had to be postponed, due to demonstrations against the pension reform. For the moment, no precise date has yet been confirmed, either by Buckingham Palace or by the Élysée. But according to South West, the royal couple would be received around September 20 in France, and would stop on September 22 in Bordeaux (Gironde), in the middle of the Rugby World Cup. “Not everything is stabilized”told the local daily a source familiar with the matter.

Still, in July, according to our colleagues, King Charles III’s security teams returned to Bordeaux. The journey of the monarch and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles seems to be taking shape, and the actors engaged for that of March are already on alert. This is the case of the Dejean company, which specializes in the manufacture of flags. But also from the Baillardran house, whose shops are full of canelés, typical Bordeaux delicacies. Its director, Angèle Baillardran, is still awaiting further confirmation. “Last March, the royal house had asked me not to communicate on this to preserve the king’s safety !” she clarified.
Old steps might not be renewed
It has been more than forty years since the monarch visited the Gironde capital: his last visit dates back to May 9, 1977. Anyone who says they are close to the environmental cause should arrive by train in Bordeaux, then travel by tram in the city. Last March, he already expressed the wish to go to the capital of Gironde, intrigued by his passage under the environmental banner after the last municipal elections. The king also wanted see the consequences of the fires that ravaged the region during the summer of 2022 : a stage which could be canceled this year, the Landes de Gascogne massif having been spared in 2023.
