On the occasion of The Last of Us Day, the Naughty Dog teams unveiled images of the highly anticipated series around the adventures of Joel and Ellie. We therefore find there Pedro Pascal (Joel), Bella Ramsey (Ellie) alongside Anna Torv (Tess) who face off with clickers in a purely stressful scene. An explosive trailer that launched the hype around the HBO series to come in 2023.
The actors also maintain this tendency, it is the case of Bella Ramsey who in an interview for USA Today made a rather startling revelation.
Bella Ramsey didn’t play The Last of Us
The actress known for her leading role in Game of Thrones (Lyanna Mormont), Bella Ramsey, will soon play Ellie. The latter, you probably know it, comes straight from Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us license. In the games, players see her growing up in this world ravaged by a cordyceps, a fungus that transforms humans into terrible creatures.
All of this, Bella Ramsey didn’t actually get to learn that before she could play the protagonist of The Last of Us. Because yes, she recently revealed to USA Today teams that before her audition, she knew very little about the Naughty Dog license universe because she had never played there.
Pedro Pascal didn’t spoil himself either
The Mandalorian actor recently revealed to QG not having spoiled too much about the overall plot of the game, playing most of the time with his nephew, whose gameplay he observed for a few hours.
After watching his nephew play for a while, he decided not to do it again so as not to risk being biased. Indeed, Pedro Pascal was afraid of wanting to persist in imitating Joel as he found him exceptional in acting, and thus no longer giving free rein to his acting. As he puts it so well, he wanted to keep a safe distance from Naughty Dog productions so that they do not taint his work.
This is perhaps why the HBO teams advised Bella Ramsey not to delve into the universe of The Last of Us either. One thing is certain: once the filming of the series is finished, the two actors will no doubt be eager to get to know their virtual doubles!
