The Last of Us Part I: A comparison video takes stock of the remake’s visual improvements

During his announcement, The Last of Us Part I had a bit of a hard time convincing everyone that the base game needed a remake, just nine years after its release. It must be said that the fresh memories that we keep of the PS3 opus and its PS4 remaster tend to lead us to think that the differences are not obvious with the PS5 version, which is why we see a whole bunch comparisons between the three versions. It is today the experts of DigitalFoundry which tackle the problem, with a little more in-depth analysis.

What is the remake worth compared to the remaster?

We will then easily notice that the PS5 version is much richer in detail compared to the remasterjust in the foreground of the trailer, thanks to reworked buildings and added textures everywhere, with more foliage and reflections in the puddles.

The work on the motion-capture is also better transcribed in the PS5 version, and we will also notice that all the characters have been greatly improved, in order to better stick to the models of the sequel. Digital Foundry also had fun comparing this remake with The Last of Us Part IIto see that the two games used the same technologies.

Keep in mind that this comparison is based on a trailer, and therefore not on the final game. We will therefore wait for the release of the game, set for September 2, to draw all the conclusions on the graphic part of the title.
