The story of Ellie and Joel in “The Last of Us” became a huge success for HBO and for its actors Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal. A second season was quickly ordered, based on the events of the second video game “The Last of Us Part II”. Fans of the video game series know that a particularly important character awaits them in the new episodes of the HBO series: Abby.

It is now clear who will play Abby in the series. Kaitlyn Dever, known from films such as “Booksmart” and “No One Will Save You”, will take on the role of the determined fighter.
Abby’s role in “The Last of Us Part II” contains many spoilers, so we’ll keep it brief here and only reveal how HBO describes her role: “a seasoned soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks revenge for the one she loved.”
According to US magazine Entertainment Weekly, Dever was in talks for the role of Ellie for a while before it ultimately went to Bella Ramsey. Abby meets Ellie and Joel in season 2. Ellie is a young girl who is miraculously immune to the fungus that is turning the rest of humanity into mindless zombies, while Joel becomes Ellie’s foster father and protector on her journey to the Firefly rebel group’s base.
While season 1 of “The Last of Us” covered the plot of the video game of the same name, the video game sequel “The Last of Us Part II” will be told over several seasons of the series. At the end of the first season, Ellie and Joel have settled in Jackson, Wyoming, along with Tommy (Gabriel Luna) and Maria (Rutina West).
Filming for “The Last of Us” Season 2 will begin this year and the episodes will appear on HBO in 2025.
