Despite all the good will in the world, sometimes developers disappoint players. This is what just happened with Baldur’s Gate 3. Explained.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is an excellent game, there’s nothing to complain about there. However, it is true that the optimization is still far from perfect and that the bugs were still quite numerous for some players. A disturbing patch 3 for Baldur’s Gate 3
Patch 3 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is here, and it’s colossal. In particular, it adds game compatibility on Mac. As with the PC launch, early access saves are not compatible with this version. For additions in terms of gameplay, the community can finally welcome the arrival of the magic mirror. This allows you to modify the appearance of your character in the camps, for those who would like to freshen up their haircut or even change their skin color. Finally, and this was extremely anticipated, patch 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 also contains numerous bug fixes, both in terms of interface, gameplay, combat and others. Except that it is very far from being unanimous.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are discussing the problems encountered with the update, and there seem to be many of them. Multiple messages report new bugs and disappointing features.
Frustrations are particularly expressed regarding the shared cache functionality. Indeed, to prevent players from losing important items when changing characters, the patch ensures that the protagonist recovers all the goods of the returned character, which can be cumbersome.
There are also cosmetic changes that have also displeased some Baldur’s Gate 3 players, such as the formerly hairless cat, Her Majesty, being given fur. It is therefore no longer a Sphinx cat. The character of Raphaël, for his part, would have undergone a “redesign” of lower quality.
New bugs in perspective?
Worse, it seems that new bugs have appeared in Baldur’s Gate. Some players report that they cannot conclude Wyll’s story in Act 3 following Patch 3, Gale repeats certain lines, and intimate scenes are censored, even when “Show Nudity” is enabled. Personally, I don’t know if this is related to the patch, but since its implementation, my game has been very slow and the loading times have been interminable. My PC is performing well, and all graphics settings are set to medium, so it’s quite disappointing.
Note that the slowdown issues also seem to affect the PS5, according to the comments. Larian was very competent in communicating with players and resolving bugs in a timely manner. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans can therefore hope that the problems linked to patch 3 will be resolved soon. An announcement should be made shortly, and a hotfix will likely be deployed quickly.
