THE UNAVOIDABLE

Tenor – Tuesday, January 3

Antoine divides his time between accounting studies which bore him and a job delivering sushi. His only motivation is the rap battles in which he participates with talent.

During a delivery at the Opéra Garnier, his path crosses that of Mrs. Loyseau, singing teacher, who detects in Antoine a raw talent to hatch. Despite his lack of lyrical culture, Antoine was fascinated by this form of expression and was convinced to follow the teachings of his new mentor.

A modern and inspiring tale directed by Claude Zidi Jr., Tenor undermines clichés by showing that success is possible for those who put in the means. If Michèle Laroque is impeccable in her role as a teacher, Mohammed Belkhir, known to some by his beatboxer nickname MB14, is the real revelation of the film. As proof, this role earned him a mention in the list of Revelations at the César 2023, just that!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – Friday, January 13

Six years after the first part of Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch puts on his flying cape in this new episode of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to go and rub shoulders with the multiverse… and his own demons. The former surgeon turned sorcerer supreme shares the bill with Wanda Maximoff, alias the Scarlet Witch, still and always interpreted wonderfully by Elizabeth Olsen.

But that’s not all, since this stunning adventure introduces the character of America Chavez, who could well return to the MCU… An original and stunning production that plays with realities and their forms, signed Sam Raimi, at who created the first Spider-Man trilogy.

The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up – From Monday, January 23

After the dazzling success of the sublime Laurence Anyways and Mommy, the talented and visionary Xavier Dolan joins forces with CANAL+ to unveil a most intriguing Original Creation. Indeed, the admirers of the scenario writer will be perhaps surprised: it is not a question there of a film, but well… of a series!

In the early 1990s, Mireille, her brother Julien and their best friend Laurier formed an inseparable trio. The boys have just won the provincial baseball championship and Mireille dreams of burning the boards. The future is all mapped out, yet, one night in October, their destinies are forever changed by a terrible incident.

Available from January 23, this 5-episode series is already shaping up to be an unmissable back-to-school event. Xavier Dolan fans will be delighted to learn that he shares the bill with Julie Lebreton (Starbuck) and Patrick Hivon (Mont Foster), not to mention the unmissable Anne Dorval.
