Microsoft is rolling out a brand new update today for Windows 11 22H2 users: KB5023706. This adds its share of new features, including two particularly expected by users. This is the taskbar adapted for touch use as well as third-party Widgets.

With Windows 11, Microsoft wants to reconnect with tactile use and it is exactly with this in mind that this taskbar was developed. In gestation for a while, it can now retract in order to leave more space for the user, without however disappearing. It also expands to make pinned icons appear larger, making it easier to reach them.

Windows 11 finally welcomes third-party Widgets

The integration of Widgets on Windows 11 has remained timid since the release of the OS, but things are accelerating greatly in 2023. Indeed, third-party Widgets make their appearance in this Update. If at the moment there are not many (like Messenger or Spotify), it is an encouraging arrival. To add them, just click on the little + in the Widgets menu and then add the one you want.

Finally, another major new feature has appeared: the search bar in the task manager. It doesn’t seem like much, but we’ve all at least once looked for the program we wanted to disable in the long list of those running in the background. With this bar, this concern disappears.

Note that an update is also available for Windows 10 for those who have not yet taken the plunge.
