The L’Equipe channel will continue to broadcast biathlon until 2026

The channel L’Equipe has just renewed its contract with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for the broadcasting of the World Cup and the Biathlon World Championships. This sport is closely linked to the history of the channel, since it has been broadcasting it since 2015. The L’Equipe channel has been broadcast on TNT since 2012.

It is a strong link, started in 2015, which will last at least until 2026. The L’Equipe channel will continue to broadcast biathlon competitions. TV audiences on the rise for biathlon

Each season, the nine stages of the World Cup will therefore be broadcast, as well as the World Championships. Among these events, viewers of the L’Equipe channel will notably find the one to be held in Le Grand Bornand in 2022, 2024 and 2026. But also the World Championships 2023 (in Oberhof, Germany), 2024 (in Nove Mesto, in Czech Republic) and 2025 (in Lenzerheide, Switzerland).

The biathlon audiences on the L’Equipe channel are good. This season, for example, the first 18 races attracted an average of 700,000 viewers, an increase of 7% over one year. Four other biathlon races drew more than 1 million viewers in front of the small screen. This success is mainly due to the good results of French biathletes, despite the retirement of five-time Olympic champion Martin Fourcade.
