Writing pilot: learning to write made easy

Even in the digital age, learning to write is the basic requirement for a successful school career. With the notebooks from Schreibpilot from “Die Höhle der Löwen” this should now be even better and, above all, more fun. I, GALA editor Rachel, tried it out with my kids.

There are children for whom the first attempts at writing go well, others despair or at least drive their parents into great despair. Then the pens slide to the side, there is scribbling, smearing and swearing and in the end you can no longer tell whether an angular a or a humped e was actually meant here. Learning to write can be so much fun, too, thought “Die Höhle der Löwen”, the founder of Schreibpilot, and designed it special exercise books with practical swing exercises and – that’s the kicker – embossed grooves that help you write.

Writing pilot in the GALA test

My daughter started school last year and my son is in fourth grade. So perfect trial victims. Pencil and Writing pilot– Put it in your hand and off you go.

Writing pilot: The first impression

The A4 notebooks from Schreibpilot – there are four different ones – are thicker than expected and have a pretty high-gloss cover, from which a cute blond pilot waves to the viewer. The stable pages are held together with a ring binder spiral. Everything looks high quality. At the beginning of the booklet you will find the usual swing exercises in which you can follow patterns or lines. A few pages later, what makes the writing pilot so special starts: The swing exercises with the help of the grooves, small depressions that are supposed to help the writing learner to guide the pen correctly. You are, so to speak, the little pilot from the cover who leads the children through the difficult realms of writing.

What I, but especially my children, really love are the beautiful illustrations. The entire Schreibpilot booklet is designed with great care and color, so that the children really enjoy looking through it and getting on with the various tasks.

Practice with the writing pilot

Since every write pilot booklet comes with a pencil and an eraser, you can start straight away with the exercises. My daughter just gets in the middle of the booklet and tries her hand at the L. Here, as on the other letter pages, L-words are shown with corresponding illustrations – a lion, a lamp, a spoon. She pronounces the words out loud and intuitively emphasizes the first letter, so she hears and learns directly that these words begin with L.

At the top right she then draws large and small Ls before she draws the smaller Ls in the grooves below. It works great and she is proud of the result. A learning success!

My son is bothered by tracing the numbers in the Booklet something about the fact that he sometimes slips out of the grooves because his pencil is supposedly not sharp enough. Well, he just wants to do it very, very, very precisely.

He thinks the math problems at the end are great – probably because they are so beautifully simple – the rogue! These are easy addition and subtraction tasks that are intended for math beginners, i.e. 1st grade. I also think it’s ideal for this and I’m almost a bit sad that we didn’t have this writing pilot booklet of “Die Höhle der Löwen” two years ago. But my daughter can practice with it now.

Writer pilot of “Die Höhle der Löwen”: Conclusion

I am enthusiastic about the writing pilot books from “Die Höhle der Löwen”. They are a great addition to the school exercise books because they are just fun and the indentations in the paper make them a little different.

Parents who have children who have difficulty writing are particularly encouraged to write to Schreibpilot. The children get a good support in their attempts at writing, or in this case better a (writing) pilot who can slowly lead them to where they should end up – with free writing. Until then, parents and children do not have to despair, but – and this effect should not be underestimated – can look forward to learning successes. Because what is more frustrating and demotivating than the feeling of not getting anything done ?!

Writing pilot for “The Lion’s Den”

The founders Kai Döringer and Hasan Saygili were able to quickly convince the lions of their exercise books in the VOX founder show “Die Höhle der Löwen”. Ralf Dümmel was particularly impressed by writing pilot:

“Which parents don’t want their own children to write better and, above all, cleaner? The writing pilot is the salvation, because here you learn to write with fun and games. The writing pilot would have really helped me at the time. Hasan and Kai immediately convinced me with the writing pilot: On the calligraphy, get set, go … ”

And so the dream deal worked: the founders of Schreibpilot won their dream investor Ralf Dümmel for a deal. Congratulations!
