The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Daedalic apologizes for the game, but a new title in the LOTR universe is in development

Every release of an officially licensed game from the Lord of the Rings is a small event, as the fans are numerous and the franchise is capable of offering great things. But The Lord of the Rings: Gollum’s Nakon And Daedalic Entertainment is far from a successthe game disappoints players.

Daedalic Entertainment published today a statement to apologize for this catastrophic launch, promising updates and patches to fix bugs, but it’s not sure that’s enough. The German studio states as follows:

Dear players,

We would like to sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience many of you had with The Lord of the Rings: Gollum upon its release. We acknowledge and deeply regret that the game did not live up to the expectations we set for ourselves or our dedicated community. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment this may have caused.

Our goal as a studio and as passionate fans of The Lord of the Rings has always been to tell an engaging and immersive story-driven adventure. Crafting a story with Middle-earth as our playground has been the greatest honor – and the biggest challenge we’ve faced so far.

At Daedalic, we understand that the success of a game is based on the pleasure and satisfaction of its players. We really appreciate your feedback and have actively listened to your voices, read your feedback, and analyzed the constructive criticism and suggestions you have provided.

Our development team has worked diligently to fix bugs and technical issues that many of you have encountered. We are committed to providing you with fixes that will allow you to fully enjoy the game.

Once again, we deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding during this time. We will continue to update you on our progress and provide transparent communication regarding upcoming fixes and improvements. Your passion and dedication as gamers has been the driving force behind our determination to make it right.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Daedalic Entertainment

As many Internet users point out, this kind of post-launch press release is happening more and more often, and the image of a buggy game at its release remains in the memory of players. But here it is Daedalic Entertainment may already have an opportunity to redeem himself (or to plant the last nail in his coffin with the fans). The German newspaper GamesWirtschaft just shared a long article that looks back on the failure of the Lord of the Rings: Gollum and on the state of video game development in Germany. It’s quite negative, but the newspaper indicates that Daedalic Entertainment developed a new video game with the license The Lord of the Rings since June 2022, which should be released at the end of next year. A new game “in a lush world filled with mythical creatures and magic” and which will follow “a character whose story has never been told before”. The journalist quotes Gimli, Gandalf Or Grima Wormtongue examples, but nothing is certain and there are many shadow heroes in the franchise LOTR.

Daedalic Entertainment obviously has much better things to do right now than announce a new video game, and given the feedback regarding The Lord of the Rings: Gollumit’s a safe bet that this new title will be pushed back internally to offer a delightful experience as soon as it is released. This time it might be the right one! To immerse yourself in the world of Middle Earthyou can find the novel The Lord of the Rings in full version at €19.90 on Amazon.
