The Lord of the Rings: How old is Aragorn actually – and when did he die?

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER

Aragorn, King of Gondor, seems at first glance to be a normal human being. But the blood of Númenor flows through his veins and gives him a longer life.

When we first see Aragorn in Bree in “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”, the tall man’s mysterious nature makes him seem scary, and not just to the hobbits. However, Aragorn quickly shows himself to be an honorable hero who would give his life for Frodo and his companions.

Not only that, Aragorn is even the rightful king of Gondor and a descendant of Isildur, who we got to know a little better in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” Unlike Isildur, Aragorn manages to resist the power of the ring, but he only longs for his great love, Arwen.

The eternal life of the elves always stands between their shared future, because as a human, Aragorn’s days in Middle-earth are numbered. However, Aragorn lives significantly longer than a normal man and you never notice his old age in “The Lord of the Rings”.

The blood of Númenor flows in Aragorn’s veins. This makes him a Dúnedain and can live about three times as long as a normal human. In the extended version of “The Two Towers” Aragorn even confirms that he is 87 years old.

Boromir and his brother Faramir are also descendants of Númenor, although Boromir died at the age of 41 and Faramir at 120. In Faramir’s case, it is a natural death, showing that her blood is not as pure as Aragorn’s, who comes from a royal bloodline.

By his standards, Aragorn is still quite a young man in the War of the Ring and a long reign still awaits him in Gondor. Aragorn only dies at the age of 210 and a year later Arwen also decides to follow her great love to death – at the age of 2901.
