  • In The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, some familiar characters return.
  • Elves in particular are back as they can live forever if not killed.
  • While appearances by Galadriel and Elrond are confirmed, fans are wondering if Legolas may make an appearance as well.

The start of the highly anticipated “The Lord of the Rings” series is just around the corner. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will then start on September 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video and will take place more than 3000 years before the “Lord of the Rings” films. Some well-known figures appear again – so also Legolas?

Elves are known to be immortal (unless they die in battle or from injury). No wonder Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) appear in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, as they are already alive at the time of the series, but unfortunately Legolas is not alive yet.

The Amazon series is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth while the films are set in the Third Age. Legolas was born in the early Third Age, making his persona impossible to appear in The Rings of Power. So fans of Orlando Bloom, who played Legolas in the films, shouldn’t get their hopes up.

However, Thranduil, Legolas’ father, who was played by Lee Pace in The Hobbit, may appear in The Lord of the Rings series. Already alive in the Second Age, the Elf dwells in the kingdom of Lindon at Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) before founding his own kingdom in Mirkwood.

So far, however, Thranduil has not been confirmed for the series. Maybe he’ll show up in Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings series. First, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season 1 will start in double episodes on September 2, 2022 in the Amazon Prime Video news program.
