Father of Isildur, we see him more briefly than his son during the prologue of The Fellowship of the Ring. Played by Lloyd Owen in The Rings of Power and Peter McKenzie in The Lord of the Rings, he was first a captain on the island of Númenor and then participated in the fight against Sauron during the alliance of Elves and Humans. Charging at the Dark Lord, he loses his life before his son, Isildur, who manages to kill her before he too perishes. Elendil can mean “friend of the Elves”.

Isildur (Maxim Baldry ADP / Harry Sinclair SDA)

Appearing in the prologue in The Fellowship of the Ring by Peter Jackson, Isildur was shown during the battle between the alliance of Humans and Elves against the evil forces of Sauron. His father Elendil lost his life by opposing the incarnation of evil and he himself cut off his finger, the one that wore the One Ring, thus ensuring victory for the forces of good. He will lose his life shortly after, killed in an ambush, and the Ring will be lost at the bottom of the water, before being found by Sméagol alias Gollum. He is portrayed by Maxim Baldry in The Rings of Power and Harry Sinclair in The Lord of the Rings.
